MoviePower at the 140th Canton Fair: What the VR Paraglider Demo Shows

MoviePower exhibited the VR Paraglider, a two-player flying motion simulator, at Booth 20.2 E25-26 during Phase 1 of the 140th Canton Fair, held in Guangzhou from 15 to 19 October 2026. The unit runs 4-5 minute sessions, occupies roughly 7.2 sqm of floor and ships with 12+ titles, which makes it a short-cycle, high-turnover station rather than a destination attraction.

What was shown, and why the format matters

The 140th Canton Fair ran in three phases, each five days long, at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou. Phase 1 ran from 15 to 19 October 2026 and covered electronics, industrial manufacturing, vehicles, lighting, hardware and tools (Canton Fair official schedule, 2026). That phase is the natural home for motion equipment, because the buyers walking it are sourcing hardware rather than consumer goods.

MoviePower showed the VR Paraglider, a two-player flying motion simulator built around a paragliding scenario, at Booth 20.2 E25-26. The platform lifts and tilts to reproduce floating and diving sensations while the headset supplies the aerial environment. Detailed specifications are published on the VR Paraglider product page.

Why a trade fair matters for this category specifically: motion equipment cannot be evaluated from a spec sheet. Whether a platform feels convincing, whether the reset between sessions is fast enough, and whether the motion profile suits a general audience are all things a buyer has to feel. The five-day format gives enough time to run that test repeatedly rather than judging from a short demo.

The VR Paraglider specifications, and what they imply for a venue

The published specifications matter less as numbers than as constraints on how the unit fits into a floor plan. The two figures that shape venue economics most are the session length and the footprint.

Specification	Published value	What it constrains
Players per unit	2	Revenue per session, and how queues form at peak
Session duration	4-5 minutes	Throughput ceiling; shorter cycles turn the unit faster
Footprint	L3000 x W2400 x H2100 mm (about 7.2 sqm)	Floor allocation and clearance
Unit weight	550 kg	Floor loading and installation route
Max load	120 kg per player	Rider eligibility screening
Power	4.6 kW at AC220-230V	Electrical provisioning per unit
Game count	12+ titles	Content variety before repeat visits flatten
Headset	Pico Neo 3	Content compatibility and replacement supply

The footprint figure is worth internalising. At roughly 7.2 sqm the unit sits inside the 8-12 sqm per compact station that industry cost guides use for planning, so it fits the same floor envelope as a single-seat station while serving two riders at once.

A 4-5 minute session is a throughput decision, not a content decision

Session length is the single biggest lever on how many paying riders a unit serves per hour. A 4-5 minute ride sits at the fast end of the commercial VR range, alongside short kiosk formats that optimise to roughly 6-12 plays per hour.

Work the arithmetic honestly. At 5 minutes of ride time, the theoretical ceiling is 12 sessions per hour, but real operation adds headset fitting, briefing and rider changeover. The published range already accounts for that overhead: 6-12 sessions per hour is what optimised short-cycle kiosks actually deliver, not the raw division.

Two riders per session doubles the people served without adding floor space or staff. That is the structural argument for a two-player flying unit over two separate single-seat machines: same footprint, roughly half the capital per rider seat, one changeover instead of two.

Compare that with free-roam formats, which run about 30 minutes per person and land near 2 groups per hour once briefing and reset are included (industry user survey data, 2026). The two formats are not substitutes. A paraglider unit monetises short dwell time and passing footfall; a free-roam arena monetises booked group sessions.

Format	Session	Practical sessions/hr	Serves per hour
VR Paraglider, 2P	4-5 minutes	6-12 (short-cycle kiosk range)	12-24 riders
Single-seat short-cycle station	5-12 minutes	6-12	6-12 riders
Free-roam arena, 4-8 players	About 30 minutes per person	About 2 groups	About 12-16 riders

Session figures: industry user survey data, 2026 for free-roam arenas. Riders-per-hour multiplies published session counts by players per session, which is arithmetic on published figures rather than a new measurement.

Riders-per-hour is a capacity ceiling, not a revenue forecast. Real utilisation depends on location, pricing and how the unit is positioned in the venue.

What a buyer should actually test at a trade fair

Five days on a show floor is enough time to test things a catalogue cannot show. The useful checks fall into three groups, and each one maps to a cost line you will carry for years.
First, ride quality across the whole motion envelope, not just the smooth parts. Ask to experience the fastest ascent and the steepest descent, because that is where motion platforms either feel convincing or feel like a machine. Second, watch a full changeover with real visitors: how long the reset takes tells you your true throughput more accurately than any spec sheet.

Third, ask what happens after the show. Maintenance is commonly budgeted at 5%-8% of equipment value per year, so the questions that matter are the response time for spare parts, whether the headset model is a current generation with an available supply chain, and how content updates are priced. Content updates are typically $150-$ 500 per month or $500-$ 2,000 per year per machine.

A trade fair also solves an information problem that online sourcing creates. Importing VR equipment from China involves HS classification, Incoterms and destination tax, and a buyer who has physically inspected the unit is in a much stronger position to specify what the invoice and packing list must say.

Where a two-player flying unit fits, and where it does not

A short-cycle flying simulator fits venues whose economics depend on turning passing footfall into paid rides: shopping malls, family entertainment centres, and arcade floors where dwell time is short and discovery is spontaneous.

It fits less well as the anchor of a dedicated VR venue. If the business plan depends on booked group sessions and premium per-head pricing, the floor is better spent on a free-roam arena, where a session runs about 30 minutes per person and commands $35-$ 50 per person (industry user survey data, 2026).

The practical pattern for most operators is mixed: one or two short-cycle units at the front to capture walk-in traffic, and one bookable group format behind them. That combination monetises both the impulse buyer and the planned visit without doubling the rent.

MoviePower has delivered over 5,000 projects for operators in 100+ countries. Its VR arcade business solutions are organised by floor area, the commercial VR equipment range sets out the full product lines, and the VR Paraglider specifications are published in detail for buyers evaluating the unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did MoviePower exhibit at the 140th Canton Fair?

Yes. MoviePower exhibited the VR Paraglider flying motion simulator at Booth 20.2 E25-26 during Phase 1 of the 140th Canton Fair, which ran from 15 to 19 October 2026 at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou. Phase 1 covers electronics, industrial manufacturing, vehicles, lighting and hardware, which is the phase relevant to motion equipment buyers (Canton Fair official schedule, 2026).

What is the VR Paraglider?

It is a two-player VR flying motion simulator built around a paragliding scenario. The motion platform lifts and tilts to simulate floating and diving while the headset supplies the aerial environment. It ships with 12+ titles, runs 4-5 minute sessions, and uses a Pico Neo 3 headset in the standard configuration.

How much floor space does the VR Paraglider need?

The published unit dimensions are L3000 x W2400 x H2100 mm, roughly 7.2 sqm of footprint. That sits inside the 8-12 sqm per compact station that industry cost guides use for planning. Allow additional clearance for rider access and queue space.

How many riders can a VR Paraglider serve per hour?

At 4-5 minute sessions and two riders per session, short-cycle kiosk formats typically deliver 6-12 sessions per hour once fitting and changeover are counted. That equates to roughly 12-24 riders per hour as a capacity ceiling, not a revenue forecast.

Is a flying simulator or a free-roam arena the better investment?

They serve different visitor behaviour. A two-player flying unit suits malls and FECs where short dwell time and passing footfall drive revenue. A free-roam arena suits booked group sessions, running about 30 minutes per person at $35-$ 50 per person (industry user survey data, 2026). Many operators run both rather than choosing.
